The Little Camera That Could ....

So there's nothing really exciting to say about all this short of a little history and what equipment I use (if equipment isn't too strong of a word). A number of years back I found this little digital camera that I could take with me fishing on the river, keep it on my hip and snap a picture of that whopper I'd reel in some day. Well, I took one picture of one whopper and left it at that, determining that in my haste to remove the hook and get the fish back in the water the poor thing was literally dying for me to take it's picture. I gave up on that idea and started taking some pictures of Hot Creek Ranch and some of my other haunts. While I can't say that I'm like this fantastic photographer, and I can't say this is the world's greatest camera, some of the pix I've taken with this thing haven't turned out all that bad. At the very least I've got some electronic memories of some of the most glorious country, sunsets and some of the kewlest wildlife I've been lucky enough to run across.

Not all of the pictures I've taken are up here, only the ones I kind of like for one reason or another. There are lots of others that are probably better, and they'll go up when time and space permits. I don't want to pay extra just to amuse my vanity any more than I already have.

Anyway, my little camera is a Canon PowerShot S100, which was the first little all metal digital Canon made. It ain't all that fancy and cost me way too much compared to what a similar amount of cash will buy you today. It has however suited my purposes to a T. I bought a friend one of the later versions and hers is way kewler than mine, is still in a metal body, and takes great pictures. The only gripe I really have about this whole digital thing is the flatness and high contrast you tend to get. I suppose throwing more money at the problem would fix it, but what the hey .... memories are better than ANY picture!

Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed seeing them first hand!
