it's been a while i realize. not
that i haven't been writing a few things here and there mind you. just haven't
had much time or inclination to pay the site much mind. so here i sit on a
cloudy, overcast saturday morning with no real commitments other than a show
tonight and getting some rest to get over the nagging back trouble that's
plagued me this last week. work has pretty much been the shits for the last
month or so and only seems to be getting worse, despite all the promises of
things turning around. not a good sign when people start walking and other cry
in the office. heh heh. but the endless train of concerts continues and between
fripp and the pigmy love circus, jonny lang, and a few others, i have seen some
great ones these last few months. heck, even nozzle has managed to play a few
times. made a trip to vegas for the first time in what seems like an eternity. i
found i don't have the same fondness for that town that i used to. my interests
lie elsewhere i think. spent a lot of the time there trying to find some good
music in a lounge where we could just sit back, enjoy some music, and watch
other people lose their money. i had the distinct impression though, that the
lounges were out, and your only choices were big production shows or gambling.
or getting an escort, lol. speaking of which, i noticed those minor-league porno
guys sure have gotten aggressive with their endless supply of handouts. and
unlike past trips, i wasn't all that excited by them this time, lol. the bright
spots of the trip aside from the company included the fountains at bellagio,
which are so much more interesting and pretty than that tired old volcano, and
the lemon drops at a bar in the venetian. i was disappointed to find the museum
there closed too. go figure. mmm. lemon drops ... a new addiction if i can find
that particular recipe. i've been playing a lot more regularly than previously,
which is good, although i've still been remiss in finding a new teacher. it's
really about time for that now i think. aside from the struggles at work and
more OT than i'm happy with just about everything else remains the same. and go
figure, the dog's still kickin .... it's truly amazing how he keeps hanging on.
me and my bud at work are back on the liquid diet ... gotta lose the extra
pounds ... but eating like a hog these last few months ... stress is truly a
killer ... but i think it's more from what it makes you eat than anything, lol.
bright spots this week: one
fantastic show, my final crappy meal of the year, a pretty neat lightning show
one night on the drive home, and last night, a shooting star blazing big and
blue over the san gabriels. never thought i'd see that down here .... just goes
to show i guess.
