september 12, 2003 -- friday night, 9:30 p.m.

johnny's dead. and i don't mean ritter. so tonight i'll suck up a little whiskey and say goodbye to the man in black. mr. cash had been a part of my collection of secret and hidden favorites for so long. introduced to him by my daddy, i listened to him on and off throughout the years, even when i had to pretend i didn't like him to be a true punker. heh. in any event ... he's gone ... another one of those legends i never got to see live. so farewell mr. cash, i'm sure there's more than one willow weeping for you tonight.

as for the rest .... the ranch was good ... too short, but good. not many fish ... fall or winter was moving in. got in lots of practice casting and trying to make each drift and long perfect one. there wasn't that much success on either front i have to admit. played with the boys tonight .... god it was so atrocious. i don't think wine would have even helped tonight's performance. i really really need to get back to doing some regular practicing and a lot less fucking around. so ... moving the gear back in the comp room. the axes had become more of a showpiece since i moved them forward in the house. i'm in a rather pensive mood tonight .... i want to write, but don't really know what to write about. maybe it's one of those just sit and veg evenings, and i haven't admitted it to myself just yet. maybe. so since i can't really come up with anything really profound to put here tonight, and because i don't really know what it was i actually came here tonight to say (i know there was things, but they escape me now) ... so what i believe i'll do now is suck up a little (and I mean a little for real) drink and maybe finish off the rest of the sundried tomato cheese bread from schat's.

and those fuckers didn't have any made on the trip home. bastards.

but i think that's what i'm gonna do ... which means this is the point where i say good night. my prayers go out to johnny and all those who knew and loved him, and for what it's worth, i'll say a few for mr. ritter as well ... and maybe for that werewolfs of london guy too while i'm at it.

peace to all
