House of Blues, Anaheim Pretty damn kewl if you ask me. So like these guys opened for Static-X. I think they had been billed as the special guest, if I'm not mistaken. So anyway, I'm standing at the bar half grumbling since the opening act stank and mingling with a bunch of metal heads my age, who are teaching the youth of tomorrow. Go figure. On comes Sinisstar. Five guys, two baldies, and three dread lockers. All goth'ed up. Or at least as goth as you can get playing metal. Lots of black, silver and makeup, put it that way. Sinisstar wasn't like anybody else that night. They're kind of new metal with some good singing and some melody. Not just thrashing, chunking guitars. Don't get me wrong, boys, I like that stuff to, but it was a pleasant change. Got their CD to boot, and it kicks ass as far as I'm concerned. They put on a good show, and the music's good to boot. What more could you ask for. I wish these guys played more, I'd like to see them again some day. I don't think they get out much or have had that much success. The did end up on a WWF CD though, go figure. For what it's worth though Sinisstar provides some good, loud metal, gets the crowd pretty amped up and puts on a damn good show. And that's not just in comparison to Assissino, who for some reason unbeknownst to me seems to play a lot more clubs than these guys. Odd world. If you want to sample their stuff, try Psychosexy for starters, it was great live and kicks on the CD to boot. Late breaking news: I guess they broke up. Fuckers. |
