Mudbath

I've seen Mudbath thrice now ... once opening for Nina Hagen and the last two times at the OC Rocks shows at the HOB. Both shows were pretty much the same ... four girls playing rock and roll. So it's Kym on bass (sometimes she even goes fretless mind you), Jamie on guitar, Sara doing the singing, and Yvette banging away at the back of the band.  They put on a good, high energy show, and they have a loyal following which adds to the excitement. The music is ok, not the best, but it's getting there. If you've heard (and I'm sure you have) No Doubt, then you've pretty much heard Mudbath. They're good, good enough for me to go check them out on name alone now ... I don't know how far they'll go until they find their own style and sound, but for the time being there's not a lot of more interesting things to see than four gals playing some good music up on stage. For me anyway. And my god, you've just got to love brooding bass players who look like Kym .... (not forgetting you either Talena) ... sigh.

Mudbath seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth and broken up. Too bad, they'll be missed.
