Fry Sum Blues The Coach House I've seen Fry Some Blues twice now, both times at the Coach House, once with Johnny Winter, and once with Koko Taylor. In both instances they performed well and fit in nicely with the evenings at hand. They're a talented four-man band consisting of two guitarists, bass player and a drummer. Their sound and talent are good and they have a good stage presence for the most part. I can't really say anything bad about them other than the one guitar player, who plays a couple of Strats, has an over active whammy bar. The other guitarist plays a beautiful Gibson hollow-body which sounds as good as it looks. All in all they're a great opening act and have the class and presence of mind not to push their CD's (if they have any) or future performance dates. They seem to me like a bunch of talented guys coming together for a night just to play some good blues. Whether or not that's the case, they're still fun to listen to and are a welcome change from a lot of the crappy opening bands I've seen lately. |
