House of Blues, Anaheim The Buzzcocks are one of those bands I'd always sort of listened to, but never bought any of their vinyl or CD's. I'd never seem them up until this point. I'm glad I went. Oddly enough there were tons of younger kids at this show, way more in attendance those us old folks. I think I had the somewhat dubious honor of being the only one drinking, let alone the only one old enough up to the end of the first act. But oh well. I was having fun nonetheless. So the Buzzcocks played a reasonably long set at the end of the night. They looked their age, but not totally burnt out. They also seemed to be enjoying themselves, which you don't always see with some of the older bands. I can't really say there was anything really special about them. They came out, played well and went home. No really fancy frills, just three guys on guitar and a drummer tearing it up for the kiddies. Old Gibsons and Marshalls prevailed and the sound and tone were all good. It could have been louder though. The crowd didn't go off as much as the GBH show, but put in a reasonably rowdy performance with a few guys surfing and a few ejections by the men in yellow. What started off as a dismally empty house for the first act also had filled up to respectable crowdedness by the time the Buzzcocks took the stage. Not much more to say than that .... good show, good sound, good time. They put in a good performance if you like them and know who they are, but I don't know if it's one of those shows you want to end up at without knowing them. You can find the Buzzcocks here. |
