Bullets 'N Octane
House of Blues, Anaheim
Bullets 'N Octane opened for
the Buzzcocks and reminded me a lot about the good old days of punk back in the
late 70s and 80s. A half-way decent punk band, these guys put on a good
performance, had the right looks and attitude, and made the best of what they
could from the largely empty house. Which is a shame since I've seen bands a
whole lot worse than these guys play to an almost packed HOB. Not much else
really to say about these guys other than they were good, fit with the show, and
did a great job of entertaining those who were there. They even managed to bring
a few of the nervous nellies down from the balcony and out from the shadows in
the back. Check 'em out if you get the chance, they're worth it.
The Latest (February 04)
Heh. They won the HOB talent show by bringing one
of the employees into the band at the last minute. They still won, I'll admit,
but from their performance upstairs on the balcony afterwards and all the inane
bragging, etc., that was going on, I found a slight distaste in my mouth over
their antics. It's one thing to be good fellas, but it's quite another to stomp
all over people who are in the exact same place you were years ago. All I can
say is ... Assholes!
Even
more late breaking news.
They now seem to be hated by a lot of people for one reason or another.
Attitude would be my guess. Oddly enough though, they still get their propers
from these people who say they still put on a good show. They now have a strong
kiddie following, which is neat. They'll probably end up going somewhere would
be my guess, as long as they lose some of the attitude until they really make
it. Headlining a local talent night is no cause for arrogance, boys.

Octane here.
