Three Blind Mice House of Blues, Anaheim Three Blind Mice is another one of those local blues night opening acts I've now seen a couple of times. The most remarkable thing about these three guys is their total lack of a blues look and the two side-by-side Marshall full-stacks the guitarist uses. Looking more like a 70's rock trio than some bluesmen, these guys have really ended up turning my head more than once. From the fully-amplified really respectable version of Red House to the acoustic numbers they do down on the hall floor, this trio performs it all admirably. The most interesting thing about these guys is the few numbers they play on the floor. Sporting a dobro, a washboard and a bass made from an old washtub and broom handle, they play some down-home old style blues, picking out a couple of old Muddy Waters tunes and pulling it all off remarkably well. They do a great job on stage fully amplified as well, probably a lot better than most of the other bands I've seen covering blues standards, but it's really the floor show that sets them apart from the rest. I don't see their name around town too often, but if you ever get the chance, check these guys out. You won't be disappointed ... I guarantee it. |
