Here's some fine places to eat and stuff.
For no other reason that these are the places I tend to always return to.

Tops
Pasadena, California
I've been going to Tops for ages and ages it seems. I can remember years and years ago when I was real little growing up in Pasadena that we never went there, but it always seemed to be there from my teen years on. In any event Tops a great sit-down or drive through place to pick up a steak sandwich, burger or anything else you might want. My favorite selections are definitely the pastrami sandwich which is piled oh so high, and the onion rings. Their burgers and steak sandwiches have a distinctive flavor I haven't found anywhere else. Their bacon burger is my favorite when I'm in that kind of mood. They make an o.k. grilled cheese and chili dog to boot, although I won't stop there just for one of those items. They have two locations in Pasadena, one at the corner of Walnut and Allen, one block north of Colorado, and one on Colorado, just east of Rosemead Blvd.

Grand Burger
Glendora, California
Grand Burger is one of those places I now frequent on my way home from work. Pretty decent food with good burgers, chili dogs and the rest. Nothing extremely special about it, just convenient for me and better food than you find at a fast-food joint. My only complaint is the length of the line through the drive-through which is a more of a testament to their quality than their speediness. Gene's is located just north of the 210 freeway on Grand Avenue in Glendora.

Gene's Grinders
Monrovia, California
Gene's has my favorite submarine sandwiches. Made big and beefy, or whatever other meat you're selecting that day, they are just plain good sandwiches. No real extras in this place and nothing else but sandwiches and fries. They're only open during the day and have been a good stopping point after a day of hiking in the Angeles National Forest if I get out in time. Gene's is located north of Huntington Drive on Myrtle in Monrovia, just before you hit old town.

DeFranko's Submarines
Van Nuys, California

One of my favorite lunch time haunts from work. A small, and I mean small, little place that makes hot or cold sandwiches and the occassional hot dog. They are big and satisfying, and not the cheapest around, but they are far better than any of the chain stores. They are always packed at lunch and the quality will cost you a few extra minutes waiting around. It's well worth the wait though. They are located on Woodley, just north of Sherman Way.

The Hat
Multiple Locations

Pretty much my favorite place to get pastrami. Piled high it's more than a meal. There's not as much pastrami on the sandwich as there is at Top's, but it is more spicy so that makes up for it. I've yet to finish a sandwich and an order of onion rings from this place. Know in advance that an order of onion rings is basically a bag full of them. Unreal, and they're good too, although I still prefer the ones from Tops. If only they'd combine, lol. Chili dogs are just ok here. The Hat is located just about every where in Southern California including Brea, Pasadena and Glendora (the ones I go to, lol) and Alhambra.
