So what do you want to know?
And why do you want to know it anyway?
Hmm?
Well, that's me there in one of my
incarnations.
I can't show you all of them, mostly because I want a little secrecy left.
The basics: I'm now 40+, divorced, back in
a relationship, no kids, employed in the graphics trade, out of school, live
in California, and want to move to Seattle.
All the good stuff in my life began a few
years back with the dawning of Napster, my new found life as a single, my first
guitar and finding Buddha. The years previous to that were all pretty much
work and marriage and not a whole hell of a lot of anything fun or
soul-satisfying, so I'm not going to expound on them here.
Napster brought back so much good music from my early
punk and new wave years, and exposed me to a lot of the newer stuff which I
still follow today. One thing led to another including the opening of the House
of Blues in Anaheim, where I overcame my fears of going out alone to a show
(since everyone I know for the most part is old and frumpy), and started me down a
long road of late nights and loud music. Not to mention a few girls and probably
too many Absolut and Tonic's for my own good. My tastes run the gamut from blues
to metal, although I have a fond affection for shows where the guys get to wear
makeup and the girls wear that shiny, oh so shiny black latex. I'm as comfortable leaning on the bar as I am mixing it up in the
pit, although a couple of bruised ribs and other injuries too numerous to mention have
tamed me a little over the last year.
I bought my first guitar, a Fender
Telecaster, as a gift to myself, blowing a job-signing bonus, and somehow making
a jab at the ex, who had previously bought all the musical instruments in the
family. Took some lessons, bought too much other gear including two additional
guitars, and started playing in a garage band doing mostly bad cover songs of
everything from the Eagles to the Sex Pistols and the Misfits. Go figure. I
still want to play blues like Stevie Ray, look like Tripp Eisen, and get all the
girls like Kiss did (and probably still do). I've been on stage once (sadly just
singing some backup and not playing), but it gave me the burn to do it again. One day my
time will come though!
The rest is all basic 6-6 work stuff and
the occasional fly fishing or hiking expedition. I don't need to expound on
those things, you can find them on this site elsewhere.
As far as why I'm here on the www ... fuck
it why not? Everybody else seems to do it, and it was a pretty good mental
exercise for myself, not to mention a distraction from something akin to a
broken heart. Really ... true story.
Why do things always seem to start and end
with a woman involved?
Anyway, thanks for checking out the site.
Have fun and don't be afraid to bang your head.
